Economies of Transformation and Desire

This is about the economies of transformation of human and society. The focus will be laid upon the economies of change and preferences in the times of digitalisation processes in the twenty-first century. The key issue of understanding our present age is through historisation. On the basis of self-historisation we will be able to mark long-term processes that underpin digital communication and medialisation.

In that context we will compare the communication revolution and the commercialisation of the messenger services in the sixteenth century to the processes of change of our days and their driving forces. The historian’s perspective enables us to better analyse the economic entanglement of changing human desire and preferences as well as transformations of the economies of attentions.

Social change of our days is fundamentally constituted by the digital interface that divides and connects humans to world. Consequently, the philosophical aim of this lecture is a critical debate about digital economies..
