Transformation and Ministry: Spiritual Centers in Search for Addressing Seekers

This lecture portrays the rise of Christian spiritual centers in response to the growing shift from institutional religion to personal spirituality, particularly in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Drawing on Tomáš Halík's concept of the “afternoon of Christianity," it explores how these centers—rooted in tradition yet often independent from church structures—appeal to seekers through contemplative practices, inclusive language, and alternative pastoral approaches.

As spiritual desires increasingly shift toward authenticity, interiority, and experiential depth, these initiatives offer accessible spaces for personal growth and community. Their adaptive strategies reflect a creative reimagining of classical Christian spirituality and suggest new directions for future church ministry.
